Dear salva , all ,

This is only very simple steps which don't need anything just few seconds=

from your time.

Distribution list creation in Eudora World mail server2.0 :

1- arrange groups of users like Sales, GM(General managers), OPs(Operations)
and open the world management center, right click on your domain name=

in the left pane--> select Add -->select Distribution list .
2- New distribution list dialog box will be open under "Name of
distribution list: " write the name of group for example Sales, then write=

under " E-mail address of distribution list owner" the e-mail address of
the person who will receive notification of delivery status, and
administrate the group, for delivery status section is optional to check it=

or not.......
3- click on the folder tap " Automatic management" and this is you can
configure only in case you want automatically users add them selves and
remove them selves automatically .

hope this will help you.

when you face any problem pls don't hesitate to contact me.....

Any chance there could be features for future releases of WorldMail? Is
there a future release? This is the only product I have ever purchased

Hi all,

I'm running WorldMail 2.0 and have what should be a simple problem.

I don't want my server to be usable for SMTP services, but if I restrict
SMTP to localhost, then a lot of mail (mostly from mailing lists) starts to
bounce.

Also, could someone direct me to a GOOD description of how mail relays work?

Thanks,
Jeff

Does anyone know whether you can manage WorldMail remotely?
In other words, can you log in from another NT workstation on the
same LAN and access
the appropriate World Mail Management screens?

I've also played with the web tools, but find them lacking.....

Thanks

Ric,

You can either install the management center on the remote machine and then
access the management center as if you were at the server itself or you can
access some of the management options via the web via port 8888 (i.e.
http://machine:8888/)

Will there ever be any additional releases or upgrades?

Hi,

Is there a way I can block/blacklist/bounce messages from specific email =

User A has a boyfriend who keeps sending email from containing massive =
attachments, this is using up too many resources, phone =
charges/diskspace/processing, what I'd like to do is start a blacklist =
where boyfriend's email address is listed and all messages bound from =
him get bounced, or returned by worldmail with a note saying message =
refused delivery.

Any help on this would be appreciated.

The Worldmail product offers no such functionality. However, if you
want, you can use IMSFA - the Internet Security Filter Agent (this is
part of the NPLEX SDK available through ISOCOR's web site), to write an
extension to create your own blacklist. When IMSFA is installed before
each message is processed by the mail server and delivered to the user,
the message must be processed by the IMSFA service. Your extension will
check for the messages where the originator is in your blacklist and if
it is it can either drop the message or send a non-delivery report to
the user. So if you know C programming this could be a solution to your
problem.

Does anyone have a good strategy or settings for mail relay settings in
WorldMail?

I have roaming external email users that need to send from their accounts
but I want to limit or remove the ability of spammers to use my system.

The settings for the mail relay seem pretty limited. Any suggestions?

Subject: IMS log

Is there any way to limit the size or rotate the IMS log?
In the configure server dialog box, under logs, I have the log file
location set as D:\logs, set max size of log to 500kb, and save 2 generations.

The IMS logs for some reason are growing on my C: drive, and do not stop
growing. I ran out of space recently on my C drive, and found a IMS-Log
file of about 400 megs.
I found a registry entry that pointed to the wrong place, so I changed
it to point to the D drive (which has a lot more free space), and rebooted
and deleted the large file.. The log is now in the right place. I did
about that a week ago, and now the IMS-log is 80 megs. I did not see a
registry entry for size of the log.

Is there any way to turn off the IMS logging?

Subject: ASP and WorldMail

Anybody,

I am running WorldMail Server on a Windows NT 4.0 box running IIS 4.0. I
am trying to write an Active Server Page that will send an e-mail based on
data filled out in a form. I have tried using a variety of ASP components
including CDONTS as well as other 3rd party ASP components.

All of them seem to have the same problem - they can't communicate with the
SMTP server. The either give me an error when trying to send to the SMTP
server, or it looks like it sends the mail, but the mail never gets lost in
limbo. I'm assuming this is an issue with WorldMail Server because it's
happened with every ASP mail component I've tried using.

When I try to connect to the same SMTP server using a mail client such as
Eudora, Outlook, Netscape Messanger, etc. I can connect to the server with
no problem.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Matt Schwartz

Dear friends,
I've been working with WorldMail for about 2 years without problems
and my users have been never paid attention to what our mail server is. But
recently I've been facing a problem with smtpd.exe without a clear solution:
I have to reboot our NT servers almost daily ...
Before the service smtpd stops suddenly I can't start it again so I have to
reboot our server.
When I check NT event viewer I just see error messages like: SMTPD.exe can
not open message XXXXX.MSG for reading.
These messages appear before SMTPD.exe service stops.
There's also another strange problem: some messages in message queue are not
sent and when I try to resend it I get a error message "Can not send
message".
I have WorldMail 2.0 running in NT SP5 with 400 users.
I've already checked the mail archive list but I couldn't find nothing
similar to the problems above.
Did some of you had problems like this ? Any ideas ?
Thanks for your attention.

If you can connect with Eudora, it is not the mail server, it is the
program. I use a product called Cold Fusion (www.allaire.com) to program
web pages, which makes it easy to generate data driven email through my
worldmail server.

What error message do you see when you try?

For ASP I've had excellent results with JMail running a few servers. No
problems for 2+ years, it is free and the install file is only 352k. Nice
and compact.

You can find it at http://www.dimac.net/

For Perl, I found a great Perl script which talks directly to an SMTP
server. Great script. I modified it so it also accepts addresses for CC
and BCC. Give a yell directly to me if anyone wants it.

Have you run chkdsk to see if you disk is OK? When those errors occur,
check to see if you can manually open the referenced xx.msg file using
notepad. I think when those errors occurs, the mail server also reports
the operating system error code that was returned when it tried to read
the file, so you can use that to find out why the mail server is unable
to read the message. Same this should also apply to queued messages.

If you didn't find any settings for the logs in the
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\ISOCOR\Services\IMS\CurrentVersion\Settings
subtree, it means that the message store server is using the server
default settings, which if I remember correctly are - no size
restrictions, rotate every 7 days and keep a min of 4 rotations (28
days). I might be wrong, but I think that the Management Center
definitely supports setting the log size/rotation limitations for the
message store server. Otherwise check the online manuals for the
registry settings descriptions and create the keys manually.

If you want to turn off the IMS logging, just delete the value for the
settings that sets the log directory (it's either called LogDir or
LogDirectory).

You might also try defragmenting the disk.

Hi,
Under the Accounting tab for the Internet Mail configuration screen,
you can change the rotation time and the number of logs to keep. Try using
Daily and 1 if you do not need to keep IMS log information for extended
periods of time.

Can anyone provide an example of how this might be done?

I have scripts in place that will work with a command line interface like
sendmail, but I already see from other postings that WorldMail has no
command line interface.

(Someone mentioned Sendmail from BCSoftware in a previous posting.)

Again, an actual sample script (PERL or ASP) would be very much appreciated.

Based on a recommendation of someone else on this list, I just tried
JMail. It was easy to write an ASP with it (they have ASP examples on

I am still having trouble getting an ASP component to talk to my WorldMail
SMTP
server. I am using JMail now (I heard from several people on this list who've
used it without problem) I keep getting an error when it tries to send the
message.

When I at the WorldMail Protocol Trace with Verbose SMTP logging, I get the
following message:

SMTP: response sent '220 galaxy.thinksmart.net ESMTP Service (Worldmail
1.3.167)
SMTP: cannot initiate asynchronous socket receive operation error 233
SMTP: server socket closing

Does anybody know what error 233 is? What does this error mean. Any help is
greatly appreciated.

Thanks a lot!

Hi, I'm needing some feedback on a WorldMail issue that just recently popped
up.

Our WorldMail installation is on a server which is also used for web
hosting. Because of this, the server has about 60 ip addresses bound to its
primary nic. This creates a problem, because WorldMail binds to every ip
address on the nic, so I am unable to run any other services on port 25 of
any interface.

Is there some way to tell worldmail to attach itself to only a specific list
of ip addresses? How about a different port?

Thanks,

Different port you can certainly do.
Registry setting - which by default is not present.
Check the on-line docs for something like SMTPPort - probably under
localmachine/software/isocor/services/smtp/currentsettings

Has anybody else experienced this problem? If so is there a fix or work
around?

I am working with WorldMail 2.0 on a Windows NT 4.0 SP 4 system.
I have configured multiple distribution lists with a single list management
agent robot.

The requests sent to the agent are dropped in the ListServer que but are
not processed unless I restart the system, then the requests will be
processed along with any and all previous requests that have been processed
previously and are not in the ListServer folder que.

Strange problem...
It seems that if an email message is sent with an invalid FROM email
address, the worldmail server rejects it.
I use the server to process email from several websites, and once in a
while, and invalid email address is used. The TO is always correct, but
sometimes the from is messed up, like someone at aol dot com.
the extra . at the end makes worldmail server reject the message.
I have used the same scripts with other mail servers, and that doesn't
happen with the other mail servers.

Is there any way to fix this? (Other than making sure we always have a
valid address:)

Is the address in the envelope or header? My guess is both. Anyway, you
can try setting:

\\hkey_local_machine
     software
         ISOCOR
             Services
                 SMTP

                         Settings
                             CanonicalEnvelopeAddresses

to be a DWORD with value 0.

The easiest way to do it is via telnet, like this:

>*telnet mail.fnol.net 25
>Trying 208.206.10.32...
>Connected to whale.fnol.net.
>Escape character is '^]'.
>220 X1 NT-ESMTP Server whale.fnol.net (IMail 5.05 25485-3)
>*etrn foo.com
>250 queuing for node foo.com started
>*quit
>221 Goodbye

Your commands are signified by an asterisk (*). Replace foo.com with
virtualtrials.com and your mail will start flowing. Alternately, you can
set up a Custom Domain in WorldMail to do it automatically. To do this:
    * Add a custom domain named "*" (an asterisk)
    * Open the configuration for that custom domain
    * Under the Connect At tab set the connection schedule desired -- since
you normally have a 24x7 connection I would suggest o minutes past the hour
connect every 60 (or 120) minutes between 0 and 24
    * add mail.fnol.net in the Server name or IP address field under
Request mail delivery using ETRN protocol
    * Click OK

Hello,
I have just subscribed to the list, maybe that you have discussed this

normally I wouldnt even consider using a mailserver on a NT-box, but here
we are using it anyway.

When I came to the company the server was already installed, and all the
users were already added, though one problem, all of them were added under
the wrong domain, mail.domain.com. Now I want to add the right domain
and just export all the users to the rithg domain, is that possible?

question nr 2:

our company has several domains, normally this is simple to let the server
know witch domains to recive mail for. I dont want to add the users again
and again, is there a way to recive mail for several domains?

domain mapping in other words.

Looks like worldmail is Y2k complaint. Though I don't get a great feeling
of ease from their compliance statement. (The only other occurrances of Y2k
in a www.eudora.com search relate only to QPopper.)

http://www.eudora.com/techsupport/kb/1378hq.html

Does anyone have any information regarding when WorldMail will be updated?
Should I scrap it and upgrade to N-Plex, which has bugs fixed and spam
prevention?

Even if they don't plan to update the product (which is a shame, but it
doesn't surprise me), you might be interested to know that it runs
reasonably well on Windows 2000. I've been doing that for several weeks
now. It doesn't seem able to get the location of the DNS server
automatically, but if you handle that manually everything else I've tried
seems OK.

Hi Calle -- How did you find out this product is discontinued? I could not
get Qualcomm to tell me anything about their future plans for Worldmail.

There were similar rumors that Qualcomm was discontinuing Eudora, yet
4.3 is now in public beta with great fanfare. Be careful when you
spread rumors.

The first part, about the description not being found, can be ignored.

The second part, about an inability to open the specified file,
suggests a disk problem. If I were you, I'd shut down all services
and run a good commercial disk-scan utility, such as Norton, and do a
complete scan of the disk, including multiple passes for bad sectors.
If any problems were detected, I'd replace the disk.

Also, check the indicated file and see if it exists, and if so, the
size and permissions.
